My question is how do I determine feed rates for Z? Currently I'm using a .500 HSS 4 flute end mill in 6061. I know a 2 flute would be a better choice but I don't have one long enough. ME suggests 3200rpm @ 52ipm. Derated for the machine and the 4 flute I'm guessing 2700 rpm @ 26ipm. Should I plunge the endmill into the aluminum at 26ipm?
