I have a DELL PC a year or 2 old, and the CD ROM is starting to make this grinding like noise, for a split second only, when a CD spins down in the drive.

Recently purchased an untested Sega CD. Took it apart, replaced the belt. When the system turns in, you hear a grinding noise. When you eject the drive, grinding again.
