Outotec has been awarded a contract by First Majestic Silver for the delivery of minerals processing technology for its mill optimisation projects at the San Dimas silver-gold mine and Santa Elena silver-gold mine, in Mexico. The circa-€15 million ($16.3 million) order has been booked in Outotec's 2020 March quarter order intake.

Outotec's scope of work includes the design and delivery of an 8MW semi-autogenous grinding (SAG) mill, a mill reline machine, a high rate thickener, and services including spare parts. The new concentrator will process 1.8Mt/y of ore from local deposits. The equipment will be delivered during the June quarter of 2017.

The project site is located in a 3,289-hectare Mineral Production Sharing Agreement area and includes a modern 1.1 million tonne per annum Outotec mill, gravity and Carbon-in-Leach (CIL) mill facility commissioned in 2012 at a capital cost of US$54 million that includes a single stage SAG mill and six CIL tanks.
