UltraTech Cement renamed its grinding plant UltraTech Nathdwara Cement in December 2018. This plant was formerly a Binani Cement plant and part of the rancorous bidding war between UltraTech Cement and Dalmia Bharat. The background to all of this has been a country that is very willing to spend big on infrastructure projects when the need arises.

UltraTech Cement has commissioned a cement grinding unit with a capacity of 1.6 million TPA at Dankuni, in the state of West Bengal. With this, UltraTech's cement capacity stands augmented to 64.7 MTPA in India Clinker requirement of the Dankuni grinding unit will be met through Rawan Cement Works, situated in the state of Chhattisgarh.

'Ordinary Portland Cement' (OPC) (43 and 53 grade) • The production capacity in India was 6.25 Metric Tonnes Per Annum (MTPA) with 70 MW captive power plants. Besides, it had clinker capacity of 3 MTPA at China and grinding unit of 2 MTPA at Dubai. The total global capacity of the Company was 11.25 MTPA.

With the new grinding unit, UltraTech's total cement capacity in the eastern region stands at 9.8mt per annum, operating at utilization. UltraTech Cement Ltd on Wednesday announced commissioning of a grinding unit in West Bengal, increasing the company's total cement capacity to 64.7 million tonnes (mt).

These units included Binani 3B, a fibreglass company with plants in Europe and Goa; the cement unit in China and a grinding unit in the UAE in which Binani owned 49%. It also reported that UltraTech would be able to recover half the amount it paid for the Binani acquisition through these sales.

The acquisition comprises of an integrated cement unit at Sewagram and a grinding unit at Wanakbori in Gujarat. The combined capacity of both the divisions of the Gujarat unit is 4.8 mtpa with a 57.5 MW coal-based thermal power plant, limestone reserves for over 90 years at current capacity and a captive jetty at Sewagram.

India's UltraTech Cement has stated that its plan to divest non-core assets in China, the UAE and Europe, is progressing well. It has also announced that it is looking to exit the Bangladesh market. "We are also exploring opportunities to exit Bangladesh, where we have a small grinding unit of 0.6Mt.
